Progress, Projects and Another Trip Away.

So I’ve had a bit of a hard week regarding finding the motivation to put pen to page or finger to laptop keyboard. I don’t think I could narrow it down to one thing in particular as it’s more of an umbrella of issues that have been hanging over me. That may sound worse than it is, but from a productivity standpoint it pretty much crippled me. That being said, I did make a tiny bit of progress. The equivalent of the snail taking its time, but progress nonetheless.

Both Blackwell and Dolos Blue have been on the back burner this week, staying practically in the same way as before, but I did give a reading of Blackwell which was very well received by those listening. Only a minor amount of physical progress has been made but I do now have a reassured confidence that the story I’m telling is the right one.

The biggest news for me coming out of this week is that I’ve made the decision to write a play. I’ve never even considered it before now, but the stars seem to be aligning at the moment and all roadsigns are pointing in that direction. Now, I don’t have a plot, I don’t have any characters, I don’t even have a preferred genre at the moment, but what I do know is that this is the right move for me moving forward.

A friend of mine wrote and had a play performed last year and it was an thrilling sensation watching his come to life, so I can only imagine how I’ll feel when it reaches that stage with mine.

I know it’ll be a slow burn, but all great things are. You should never rush something or someone that you believe to be a good thing. You always end up pushing it away or worse.

Unrelated to writing but this weekend I took a trip down to Manchester to visit a few of my friends. Visit them and go see the Giants Live Tour Finals.

I’ve been a massive fan of the sport they call ‘Strongman’ from the moment I saw my first show. 1998; Magnus samuelsson and Jouko Ahola the previous years winner battling it out for the converted title of World’s Strongest Man. I was 6 at the time and it’s safe to say I was hooked from the get go. I always had the ambition to go see the finals live one day, and as I haven’t quite managed that yet I still hold out hope, but I’m making great strides towards that now that I can. This was my second show that I’ve attended and hopefully it won’t be the last. I won’t go into the final results as I hate spoilers with a passion, but I will say it was awesome!

I’ve come back from this trip recharged and ready to go heading into the new week, and I’m hoping I can achieve some titanic feats with my work in the same regards the competitors did at the finals with their incredible feats of strength. That made sense in my head, honest.

If you would like to see what I got up to on the trip, then please check out the video here, or check out my channel for more content.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed.
